Africa's Wealth: 50 African Women Who Inspire Me

These women have broken glass ceilings, climbed up corporate ladders, entered unventured territories in business and have brought heels and pencil skirts into the boardroom. Some of these women are self-made dollar billionaires and what they all have in common is that they are African. I have always been obsessed with powerful, inspirational and successful women in Africa and to my delight more publications have risen to the occasion and have shared their stories. There is power in representation . Time Magazine's World's Most Influential Architect: Tanzanian-Born Ghanaian-British Architect David Adjaye

(image via www.adjaye.com) Time Magazine has released its much anticipated annual list of The 100 Most Influential People and Ghanaian-British architect, Sir David Adjaye has made the list. He is the principal architect of Adjaye Associates which has offices in New York and London and have projects all over the world. The Time’s 100 Most Influential list is broken down into five categories namely: Icons, Titans, Leaders, Pioneers and Artists . Unlike other architects who have made an appearance on the list in the artist category before, Adjaye has been featured in the Icons list where he has been listed alongside RuPaul, John Lewis and Cindy Sherman. Luxury brands are cropping up all over the continent and buyers with disposable income are ready to join the tribes created by the founders of these companies. African brands are rising and creating an impact all over the world. It is definitely about time that the once coined "Dark Continent" gives international brands a run for their money. Everyone, after all, is opening up businesses in Africa; therefore it is only right that Africans do so too.
