Watch: The timeless Sade Adu perform "No Ordinary Love"

(image via google image)

I was virtually raised by powerful women who commanded presence through words, academia, performance and overall action. From the literary queens such as Maya Angelou to the business powerhouses like Diane Von Furstenberg, Sheryl Sandberg and Coco Chanel to BeyoncĂ©, Jill Scott and my old time favourite Sade Adu.

Just like the group Lucy Pearl, I have always assumed that Sade was just made up of the woman Sade Adu. I later on learned that Sade the band consists of four members. What magic they make.

The Nigerian born British lead singer with the sultry, silky and soothing voice is the epitome of luxury for me. Luxury is timeless and I believe that Sade Adu is too. Her beauty is eternal. Sade Adu has also managed to also keep the main thing... the main thing, her music. Her private life barely graces publications.

Below is a video of one of my favourite songs by her. The band's album Soldier of Love proved that they are still a force. They remained true to themselves but relevant to a generation that might not appreciate or even know about their earlier offerings.

There are two songs that I would sell a few things to see Sade perform... Those are: No Ordinary Love (Love Deluxe Album,1992)  and Morning Bird (Soldier of Love,2010).

(image source: https://thewishfactor.wordpress.com) " I am the dream and the hope of the slave. "- Maya Angelou Maya Angelou's poem Still I Rise makes me think of the struggles of yesteryear and how the youth had sacrificed their childhoods and dreams in order for us to be free and achieve our wildest dreams and greatest ambitions. It is no secret that " it is not yet uhuru " but with the youth of today leading an economic revolution through entrepreneurship and representation in corporate SA, the future is bright. Below is a list of young movers and shakers who excite and inspire me (in no particular order). I follow some of them on social media and know some of them personally. Seeing young people self-actualize inspires other young people to do the same. After all... “we are the ones...

Luxury Champagne Campaign: The Stories Behind My Favourite Champagne Brands

Lily Bollinger was once asked " When do you drink champagne?",  and she replied:  “I only drink champagne when I'm happy, and when I'm sad. Sometimes I drink it when I'm alone. When I have company, I consider it obligatory.  I trifle with it if I am not hungry and drink it when I am. Otherwise I never touch it - unless I'm thirsty.” In the words of Madame Bollinger, champagne does not need an occasion and I believe it to be true. Once you fall in love with it, you will not be a fan of anything else…unless you are me; I love a good glass of Pinot Noir too. The aspect that makes luxury brands stand out are the stories behind the brands. Story-telling is a major component of brand building when it comes to luxury brands; it is no longer about convincing a consumer to make the purchase but to rather be a part of the story. The stories behind brands such as Dom PĂ©rignon and my personal favourite, Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin are ones that warm my heart....
