Watch: Ted Talk: Shonda Rhimes - My Year of Saying Yes to Everything

This past Sunday a friend of mine mentioned a Ted Talk that I had nagged her to watch a while back and she finally had! She referenced it so nicely in a debate that we were having, so much so that I thought it was important for everyone else who had not seen it to catch a glimpse of it.

Shonda Rhimes shares about what really makes her the titan that she is and also gives the audience a glimpse into her life as a mother, who is also a businesswoman who makes over 70 hours of great television every season.

In the talk she goes into how she had lost her Hummm and how she found it again.

I personally define the Hummm as a space where you operate at your optimal level, it is a place where everything that you touch turns to gold because you put a lot heart into it.

Hopefully this Ted Talk will help you identify your Hummm...

Luxury Champagne Campaign: The Stories Behind My Favourite Champagne Brands

Lily Bollinger was once asked " When do you drink champagne?",  and she replied:  “I only drink champagne when I'm happy, and when I'm sad. Sometimes I drink it when I'm alone. When I have company, I consider it obligatory.  I trifle with it if I am not hungry and drink it when I am. Otherwise I never touch it - unless I'm thirsty.” In the words of Madame Bollinger, champagne does not need an occasion and I believe it to be true. Once you fall in love with it, you will not be a fan of anything else…unless you are me; I love a good glass of Pinot Noir too. The aspect that makes luxury brands stand out are the stories behind the brands. Story-telling is a major component of brand building when it comes to luxury brands; it is no longer about convincing a consumer to make the purchase but to rather be a part of the story. The stories behind brands such as Dom PĂ©rignon and my personal favourite, Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin are ones that warm my heart....

South Africa's Gems - My Top 40 Young Movers and Shakers

(image source: https://thewishfactor.wordpress.com) " I am the dream and the hope of the slave. "- Maya Angelou Maya Angelou's poem Still I Rise makes me think of the struggles of yesteryear and how the youth had sacrificed their childhoods and dreams in order for us to be free and achieve our wildest dreams and greatest ambitions. It is no secret that " it is not yet uhuru " but with the youth of today leading an economic revolution through entrepreneurship and representation in corporate SA, the future is bright. Below is a list of young movers and shakers who excite and inspire me (in no particular order). I follow some of them on social media and know some of them personally. All of them are definitely putting our country on the world map and it’s heartwarming to follow their stories and successes. Representation matters. Seeing young people self-actualize inspires other young people to do the same. After all... “we are the ones...
